Product information "Rally X | New Rally X Multigame Free Play and High Score Save Kit"

Rally X | New Rally X Multigame Free Play and High Score Save Kit

Upgrade a compatible original Namco Rally X arcade PCB with Rally X and New Rally X, permanent Top 5 high score saving with initials, Free Play, menu-driven settings, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support.

This HighScoreSaves Multigame Kit uses the original Rally-X arcade PCB rather than replacing it with a JAMMA board, reproduction PCB, generic multicade, or software-emulation platform. The Multigame configuration uses a Z80 daughter card together with additional supported graphics and color hardware for Rally X and New Rally X.

Games Included:
Rally X • New Rally X
Original Namco Hardware • Z80-Based Upgrade • Top 5 Scores • Free Play • Optional Wi-Fi

Choose Your Rally X Multigame Kit Configuration

Choose either a Standard Save Kit for local score and settings storage or a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit that also supports qualifying online leaderboard score submission.

A compatible Z80 processor and 40-pin CPU socket can also be selected if needed for your compatible original Rally-X PCB.

Rally X Multigame Hardware Configuration

This is the full Multigame hardware version of the HighScoreSaves Rally-X upgrade. In addition to the Z80 daughter card, the installation uses supported graphics and color hardware at documented locations on the original Rally-X PCB.

  • Original Hardware: Designed for documented compatible original Namco Rally-X arcade PCBs
  • Z80 Processor: Requires a compatible Z80 processor
  • 40-Pin Socket: The Z80 processor location must use a compatible 40-pin socket
  • Multigame Hardware: Uses additional supported graphics and color components beyond the Z80 daughter card
  • GFX ROM Setting: Set the supported GFX ROM option to Multikit after installation
  • Cabinet Support: Supports documented compatible upright and cocktail configurations

Games Included

Rally X

Play the original Rally X on the compatible original arcade PCB with the kit's supported Free Play, high score saving, settings, and other upgrade features.

New Rally X

Select New Rally X from the Multigame configuration while using the additional supported graphics and color hardware provided for the full Multigame installation.

Top 5 High Score Saving and Score Tables

The Rally X Multigame Kit stores the Top 5 supported scores with player initials using serial EEPROM storage, so a battery is not required to retain supported high-score data.

Up to 16 supported score-table combinations can be maintained based on lives and bonus settings, keeping scores from supported configurations separate rather than combining every setup into one table.

Free Play, Coin-Up, and On-Screen Settings

Free Play allows the cabinet to start games without inserting coins while traditional Coin-Up operation remains available when quarters or tokens are desired.

Supported DIP and game options can be configured through the kit's on-screen settings menu, including supported score-table, attract-sound, copyright, and gameplay selections.

Rally X Multigame Installation Requirements

  • Compatible Original PCB: Verify that the cabinet contains documented compatible original Rally-X hardware
  • Z80 Processor: A compatible Z80 processor is required
  • Socket Requirement: The Z80 CPU location must use a compatible 40-pin socket
  • Soldered Z80: If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before fitting the kit
  • Graphics and Color Hardware: Install the additional supported components only at the locations identified in the installation guide
  • GFX ROM Setting: Configure the supported GFX ROM option to Multikit after installation so the Multigame graphics map correctly
  • Before Power-Up: Verify processor orientation, Pin 1, socket condition, daughter-card seating, graphics/color component placement, and all chip pins

Standard Save Kit vs. Wi-Fi Enabled Kit

The Standard Save Kit stores supported scores and settings locally and does not require an internet connection for normal gameplay, Free Play, Coin-Up operation, local score saving, or menu operation.

The Wi-Fi Enabled Kit includes the same local functionality and adds qualifying online score submission to the HighScoreSaves leaderboard.

Rally X Multigame Kit FAQ

Which games are included?

The Multigame Kit includes Rally X and New Rally X for documented compatible original Rally-X arcade hardware.

How is this different from the Rally-X Lite Kit?

The full Multigame Kit uses additional supported graphics and color hardware beyond the Z80 daughter card. The Lite version uses the original PCB color PROM hardware instead.

What is the Multikit GFX ROM setting?

After installation, set the supported GFX ROM option to Multikit so the graphics hardware is mapped correctly for the Multigame configuration.

Does the Z80 need to be socketed?

Yes. The documented Z80 processor location must use a compatible 40-pin socket before the daughter card can be installed.

Does installation require soldering?

No soldering is required for the kit installation when the documented processor and component locations are properly socketed. If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed first.

How many high scores are saved?

The kit stores the Top 5 supported scores with player initials and supports up to 16 score-table combinations based on supported lives and bonus settings.

Can I still use coins?

Yes. Free Play is available, while traditional Coin-Up operation remains supported when coins or tokens are desired.

Is Wi-Fi required?

No. The Standard Save Kit stores supported scores and settings locally. Wi-Fi is optional for qualifying online leaderboard score submission.
