Original and Bootleg Scramble PCB Compatibility
The multigame kit works with compatible original Scramble PCBs and bootleg Scramble PCBs. However, Scramble boards were produced in different configurations, and the required locations are not socketed on every board.
Before purchasing, inspect these locations on your PCB:
- Main CPU: Z80 location 1A/1C.
- Sound CPU: Z80 location 3G/4G.
- Graphics: ROM locations 5F and 5H.
- PROM: Location 6E.
HighScoreSaves has encountered Scramble boards with some or all of these devices soldered directly to the PCB, as well as boards where all required locations were already socketed. Do not assume your Scramble PCB is configured the same as another board.
What the Multigame Installation Uses
Installation uses several daughter boards connected with the supplied ribbon cable:
- Main daughter board at 1A/1C
- Sound daughter board at 3G/4G
- Graphics daughter board at 5F and 5H
- PROM daughter board at 6E
- Supplied interconnect ribbon cable
A Z80 processor is required for the main daughter board. You may use a compatible existing processor or select an optional Z80 when ordering.
Socket installation may require soldering if any required component on your particular PCB is soldered directly to the board. Review the installation guide and compare its board photographs with your PCB before ordering.

Scramble supports extended scoring up to 9,999,990 points. The kit also provides selectable Konami and Stern difficulty behavior, including the faster fuel-drain behavior associated with the Stern version.
Frogger supports extended scoring up to 9,999,990 points and includes the supported music correction used by this multigame version.
Multigame Version Differences
A few visual differences are specific to the multigame versions: The End uses dot-style bullets, Frogger uses a blue street, and Anteater uses blue tunnels.
Standard and Wi-Fi Kit Options
The Standard Save Kit stores scores locally on the arcade hardware. The Wi-Fi Enabled Kit retains local score saving and adds supported online score uploading to the HighScoreSaves leaderboard system.
Optional Z80 processor, 40-pin socket and instruction-magnet selections are available on the product page.
Compare Standard and Wi-Fi Enabled KitsHow to Enter the Scramble Multigame Settings Menu
With the game powered off, press and hold Player 1 Start. Turn the cabinet on while continuing to hold Player 1 Start, then release the button when prompted on screen. The main settings menu will open.
Menu access can be configured so normal players and guests do not automatically enter the settings area during regular cabinet use.
Scramble | Super Cobra Multigame FAQ
Does this kit work with bootleg Scramble PCBs?
Yes. The kit supports compatible original and bootleg Scramble PCBs. Because board layouts and socketing vary, inspect the required CPU, sound, graphics and PROM locations before ordering.
Does installation require soldering?
Not when all required locations are already properly socketed. If the main CPU, sound CPU, graphics ROMs or PROM are soldered directly to your PCB, socket installation will require soldering before the multigame daughter boards can be fitted.
Which games are included?
Scramble, Super Cobra, Anteater, Frogger, Amidar, Armored Car, Turtles and The End.
How many high scores are saved?
The kit saves the Top 10 scores with initials for each supported game.
Are the high scores lost when the cabinet is turned off?
No. Scores are stored in serial EEPROM and remain saved without cabinet power.
Can I use Free Play and still accept coins?
Yes. Free Play is available for coin-free operation while traditional coin operation remains supported when preferred.
Do I need to purchase a Z80?
No. A compatible existing Z80 can be reused. An optional replacement Z80 is available as a product selection.
What does the Wi-Fi version add?
Both versions save scores locally. The Wi-Fi Enabled version additionally supports online score uploading to the HighScoreSaves leaderboard system.

Brought new life to my Scramble cabinet
I was originally looking for a way to keep my Scramble machine interesting without losing the original hardware, and this multigame kit was exactly what I wanted. The extra games give everyone something different to play, and changing between them is quick and simple.
Installation went smoothly, the instructions were well written, and the kit worked perfectly from the first boot. Everything fits cleanly with no permanent changes to the PCB, which was important to me as a collector. The quality of the kit is excellent, shipping was fast, and it was packaged with care.
It's rare to find an upgrade that adds so much value while still respecting the originality of the cabinet. If you're on the fence about the Scramble Multigame Kit, I'd buy it again without hesitation.
