Silk Worm Free Play and High Score Save Kit for Tecmo Arcade PCB
Upgrade a compatible original Tecmo Silk Worm arcade PCB with permanent Top 10 high score saving with initials, Free Play, attract sounds, menu-driven settings, ROM Saver, practice features, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support while retaining the original arcade hardware.

Silk Worm High Score Saving and Free Play
The kit stores the Top 10 Silk Worm scores with player initials using serial EEPROM storage. Saved scores remain available after the cabinet is powered off without relying on batteries.
Free Play allows the cabinet to operate without inserting coins while Coin-Up operation remains available when normal coin or token play is preferred.
Silk Worm Two-Player Mode, God Mode, and Score Tables
Two-player Silk Worm operation requires coin play. Two-player mode is not available while the game is operating in Free Play mode.
God Mode provides unlimited lives for practice and testing. High scores are intentionally not saved while God Mode is enabled.
Separate supported high-score tables are maintained for 2, 3, and 4 lives settings so scores achieved under different lives configurations remain independent.
Silk Worm Installation Requirements
- Original PCB: Designed for documented compatible original Tecmo Silk Worm arcade PCBs
- Z80 Processor: Requires a compatible Z80 processor on the HighScoreSaves daughter card
- Socketed CPU Location: The documented Z80 location must use a suitable 40-pin socket for daughter-card installation
- Already Socketed: No soldering, trace cutting, or special wiring is required when the Z80 location is already properly socketed
- Soldered CPU: If the Z80 is soldered directly to the PCB, a suitable 40-pin socket must be installed before fitting the kit
- Z80 Installation: The existing compatible processor may be transferred from the PCB to the daughter card, or a compatible replacement may be used
- ROM Saver: Remove only the designated program ROMs identified in the Silk Worm installation guide
- Before Power-Up: Verify Z80 Pin 1 orientation, daughter-card seating, processor-pin alignment, CPU socket condition, and underside clearance
Standard Save Kit vs. Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
A Standard Save Kit stores supported Silk Worm scores and settings locally on the arcade PCB. Wi-Fi is not required for normal gameplay, Free Play, Coin-Up operation, attract sounds, ROM Saver, Backup and Restore, lives-based score tables, God Mode, Flip Screen, or menu-driven settings.
A Wi-Fi Enabled Kit adds qualifying online score submission to the HighScoreSaves leaderboard while retaining local high-score saving.
