Product information "Reactor Arcade Free Play and High Score Save Kit"
Reactor Free Play and High Score Save Kit for Gottlieb Arcade PCB
Upgrade a compatible original Gottlieb Reactor arcade PCB with permanent high score saving, Free Play, configurable game settings, Backup and Restore, God Mode, attract-sound options, and optional Wi-Fi leaderboard support.
This HighScoreSaves kit uses an 8088 daughterboard installed at the original processor location while keeping the compatible Gottlieb Reactor PCB as the operating game hardware. It is an original-PCB upgrade rather than a replacement JAMMA board, reproduction PCB, generic multicade, or software-emulation platform.
Choose Your Reactor Kit Configuration
Choose a Standard Save Kit for local score and settings storage or a Wi-Fi Enabled Kit that also supports qualifying online leaderboard score submission.
A compatible Intel 8088-family processor is required. The original processor from the Reactor PCB may be reused, or a compatible replacement processor may be used.
The original 8088 processor location must use a compatible 40-pin socket. A socket option is available for installations where one is needed.
Reactor Free Play and High Score Save Features

Top 10 Elite Scores and Daily Top 25
Reactor uses two different score displays. The Top 10 Elite table is the permanent supported high score table retained by the kit after power is removed.
The separate Daily Top 25 table is intended for current-session or daily play and is not retained after the cabinet is powered off. This keeps the permanent Elite leaderboard separate from the temporary Daily Top 25 display.
Reactor Settings Menu
With the cabinet powered off, press and hold Player 1 Start. Continue holding Player 1 Start while turning the cabinet on, then release the button when prompted on screen.
The settings menu provides access to supported gameplay options, lives and bonus settings, attract-sound behavior, score-table functions, Backup and Restore, God Mode, and other kit-specific settings.
Reactor God Mode Practice Setting
God Mode provides unlimited lives for practice and game exploration. High scores are intentionally disabled while God Mode is active so practice-mode scores are not added to the saved competitive score tables.
Reactor Installation Requirements
Confirm that the original Reactor PCB is fully working before installing the upgrade. The HighScoreSaves daughterboard is not intended to repair an existing PCB fault.
- Compatible Original PCB: Designed for documented compatible original Gottlieb Reactor arcade hardware
- 8088 Processor: A compatible Intel 8088-family processor is required
- Processor Reuse: The original 8088 may be removed from the Reactor PCB and installed on the HighScoreSaves daughterboard
- 40-Pin Socket: The original 8088 processor location must use a compatible 40-pin socket
- Soldered Processor: If the original 8088 is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed before the kit can be fitted
- Daughterboard Installation: Install the daughterboard into the original 8088 socket and install the processor into the daughterboard socket with Pin 1 correctly aligned
- Program ROMs: Original program ROM removal is optional unless otherwise directed by HighScoreSaves; store removed ROMs safely and record their original locations
- Before Power-Up: Verify processor orientation, Pin 1 alignment, daughterboard seating, socket condition, processor pins, and cabinet connections
Standard Save Kit vs. Wi-Fi Enabled Kit
The Standard Save Kit stores supported scores and settings locally and does not require an internet connection for normal Reactor gameplay, Free Play, local high score saving, menu operation, Backup and Restore, or God Mode.
The Wi-Fi Enabled Kit includes the same local functionality and adds qualifying online score submission to the HighScoreSaves leaderboard.
Reactor Kit FAQ
Does this kit require an original Gottlieb Reactor PCB?
Yes. The kit is designed for documented compatible original Gottlieb Reactor arcade PCBs and is not a replacement game board.
Does the kit require an 8088 processor?
Yes. A compatible Intel 8088-family processor is required. The original Reactor processor may be reused, or a compatible replacement may be used.
Does the 8088 need to be socketed?
Yes. The documented 8088 processor location must use a compatible 40-pin socket before the daughterboard can be installed.
Does installation require soldering?
No soldering is required for the daughterboard installation when the original 8088 processor location is already properly socketed. If the processor is soldered directly to the PCB, a compatible 40-pin socket must be installed first.
How many Reactor high scores are retained?
The kit retains the Top 10 Elite score table. The separate Daily Top 25 table is temporary and is not retained after cabinet power is removed.
What is Reactor God Mode?
God Mode provides unlimited lives for practice. Scores are not saved while God Mode is active.
Do I have to remove the original program ROMs?
No. Program ROM removal is optional unless otherwise directed by HighScoreSaves. The daughterboard supplies the required game code, so supported original program ROMs may be removed and stored safely if desired.
Is Wi-Fi required?
No. The Standard Save Kit stores supported scores and settings locally. Wi-Fi is optional and adds qualifying online leaderboard score submission.
